1st Dive: Beginnings [Action]

[A quiet and peaceful slumber after a long, tiring day in high school for Ai Nanasaki ended up with her waking up in the middle of a forest, her body on the ground surrounded by leaves. Not that she thought she was waking up at first, but that she was in the middle of an odd dream, rather. A particularly vivid one.

It was a bit cold - certainly colder than her room had been - and her body didn't feel as relaxed as it did on the comfy mattress. And she was lying on something else other than the ground.

As Ai leaned forward, her eyes inspected her surroundings curiously, her head feeling a bit dizzy. It resembled the hill her grandfather owned, but... there was something off about it. She wasn't on the route she usually took, either - there wasn't one to begin with.

Still feeling something on her back, she reached over her shoulder and touched what felt like a wing. Also, she seemed to be wearing a peculiar white sundress and not the pyjamas she had gone to bed with.]

Huh...

[This was so strange. And it felt real. It didn't feel like a dream.

Ai continued turning her head around, and it wasn't until her gaze landed on a book right beside her when she stopped doing so.

The girl reached out and inspected both covers of the peculiar object with curiosity in her eyes.

Standing up with the book in her hands, she opened it up, trying to make sense of what was happening. But what was inside of it just seemed to confuse her even more at that point.]

Where am I...?

[Her voice sounded as confused as it could be. It was a good question. And why did it feel like she had wings on her back?]

(OOC: Ai will be walking around the forest while inspecting the book, trying to either find anyone who could help explain what was going on or a sign of civilization. You can catch her there.)

[As Ai continued walking through the forest, always turning her head around as she did in hopes that she'd find anything, her gaze landed on the small furry animal before it even approached her.

Finally, something in this otherwise desolate-looking forest. Was that a cat? It appeared a little odd, but it still looked like one - and it was kind of cute, too.

Her eyes widened when it began twining around her legs, but she didn't take a step back as she simply looked at it with wonder.]

H-hey.

[She would proceed to kneel down next and get a better look at it. Maybe she could determine whether it was a wild animal or if it was somebody's pet - if there was even a chance of the latter.]

[ She considers. ] Well, I met a giant talking turtle yesterday named Donatello. There are two other ponies like me - well, except that Rainbow Dash is a pegasus, and Pinkie Pie's an earth pony, and they're not purple. But there are a lot of humans, too. [ Grinning ] You'll fit right in!

[A giant turtle? Well, she would've been more surprised before, but after acquainting herself with Twilight, Ai's reaction was just a nod of fascination as she listened to the pony's answer.

So there were differences between people in her world - probably more significant than they seemed.]

I take it the two other ponies are from your world, too? While Donatello is from a different one altogether?

[If anything, conversing with a pony didn't turn out to be so different than talking with a fellow human. Maybe it'd be the same for most other creatures she'd encounter.]

Yes, but the one-world-per-species rule doesn't seem to apply where humans are involved. So I can't say how many of your friends might be here.

[He gives a sheepish grin.]

Oh, that? That's just some firebending! In my world, there's a thing called bending where we can control the elements, and... [Nervous laugh] this is it! I guess it's the easiest way to tell if someone's from a different world from me...

[After all, just because he doesn't recognize someone doesn't mean they're from a different world.]

Those journals are a communication... device. A way to talk to to people from far distances. [But they're usually full of useless information. He answers that casually, still marching to the next snare without stopping]

[He shakes his head after thinking. Gyarados is a sweet looking thing, though he's only got the data through a nifty data transfer between dexes. So many Pokémon...!]

Not really... Well, I found their balls in the item shop, but the Pokémon themselves were kinda wandering around... I only have these two and Moo, my Mamoswine, with me here.

[He briefly scrolls through the Dex, pointing out Mamoswine. Big fella.]

The Little Miss told me that the rest of us only have three of our friends, too, so the means my other three pals are safe at home~.

[Ai thought as much - from the looks of it, there was a way to contact people either in written form, a voice conversation or even a video.

It was like an electronic device, then, though it didn't look like one. It didn't seem to be charged by anything.]

I see...

[The thought of whether she could contact her family passed Ai's mind, but she had a hunch that it wasn't exactly possible.]

This works just for people in Luceti?

[What she couldn't say with certainty was whether it could work with the other enclosures, though.]

Can you use it to contact the orcs in one of the other villages?

[Mamoswine was an impressive Pokémon, just like the others Diamond had - and it was certainly bigger than its trainer like Wig was. Though she was taller than him, she reckoned it would tower over her, too.

She then turned to look Diamond's way with her eyes narrowed sympathetically.]

At least you get three of them, but... you must miss your other Pokémon.

[She knew she would, in his position. If she had a pet back home, she would be thinking about it too.

It seemed like he wasn't the only person to come from his world - so maybe these won't be the only Pokémon she'd get to see in person.]

Which of your Pokémon didn't come here?

[Firebending, huh... More like magic.

A moment passed before Ai processed everything the boy said to her when she collected herself.]

I have not seen anything like this before... But I am feeling warmer now. Thank you.

[The way the boy was firebending now was certainly helpful, but Ai couldn't help but wonder how else he might could apply it, the freedom he had with it. It sounded like it could be dangerous...

What interested her, though, was him mentioning that there were more elements in his world, fire presumably being one of them.]

What other elements are there?... In your world?

[If a person could do firebending, then there was probably a way to waterbend as well.]

Is... that so? Humans come from different worlds?

[Did Twilight mean that someone being human here did not necessarily mean they came from Earth like her? Where else could they have come from, though?]

Earth is fairly large on its own - there are seven billion people on the planet. I... doubt that somebody I know is also here.

[It was a village they were going to, so she estimated that there weren't a lot of other people like the two of them who were taken to Luceti. That's not to say that she wasn't hoping somebody else she knew was here, too.]

[He flips through the Dex as he talks fondly.]

Don, my Bastiodon; Tung, my Lickilicky; and Gi, my Regigigas friend. There's also Rotom, Phione, and Manaphy who I'm friends with, too, so they're okay back home right now. Rotom's a big fan of the mecha anime I watch! And Don and Tung eat as much as I do too. Gi's a protector of the world.

[Legends galore!! Not that she'd probably know, but man. Diamond's smile turns slightly sad, but it's obvious he's okay with them being left behind. They're safer there and there's some sort of non-Dialga-related time thing in place.]

I miss them a lot. We were taking good care of Phione before we came here, and it's kind of been hard not taking up and seeing that odd Pokémon... Oh! Um, right. There's some kind of timethingy put in place so you return the exact moment you left at.

[Ai watched curiously as Diamond showed her the other Pokémon he had - none of them particularly familiar to her. It was still nice seeing their pictures in the Pokédex, because the names themselves didn't mean anything to her. She listened to the trainer intently, gasping a little in surprise at his last words.]

I will return exactly where I was before?

[That was relieving, in a way. Her family and friends wouldn't have to worry about her, and she wouldn't have to be concerned with what was going on at home.

She put her hand on her chin thoughtfully after, her brows slightly furrowing.]

Will I remember everything that has happened to me here?

[Will she remember... He's heard that no, you wouldn't, but he's not entirely sure himself. Diamond shrugs.]

I don't think so... But since I only got here a few days ago, I don't really know. If it's just caused by something here, I don't think you will, but I'm not sure at all...

[He wishes he were, but he isn't.]

There is a simulation chamber that can make nearly anything. And a hot spring, yes.

I could easily teach you how to make a nice pool.

[A simulation chamber capable of almost anything was the most advanced piece of technology Ai had heard of existing before... This new information compelled her to ask how such a thing could be real, but then again, she remembered where she was - Luceti, a place where magic clearly existed. It wasn't technology that made all of this possible.]

Oh! I can make a pool in the simulation chamber?

[Just how close to the real thing would it be, though? Would she feel the same sensations swimming in something made out of the simulation chamber? How was the water going to be like?]

Would it feel any different than a real pool?

[A hot spring sounded great though, yet another relief to hear that there was one in Luceti - she'd certainly go check it out when she could. It looked like she'd have most of the amenities she had and enjoyed back at home, too...]

[Ai nodded at his reply, not sure how to feel about that yet. Depending on what happens here, maybe some things would be best left forgotten anyway... Though the situation didn't look as gloomy as it did a few minutes ago.]

I guess that... people who know for certain won't be able to tell us, since they will be back in their worlds by then.

[Unless they were brought here twice in their lives. Was that even possible?]

You can. Even the pool from your home, if you like

[She shakes her head. She understood the questions, and they were all pretty common.]

Not at all, it feels the same. And in the summer, there is a beach.

[That was fascinating to hear - she could bring places from her home here easily with this, and doing so with the pool was a good idea.

Ai imagined one of her first trips would be going to that simulator, after she settled in. That hot spring, too. She knew she could certainly use the time to collect her thoughts.]

Looks like I will be doing a trip around Luceti soon after I get there...

[She said so with achuckle. Indeed, all of this information reaffirmed Rei's statement that being in the village wouldn't be as dreary as Ai initially feared. She hadn't gone to the beach too often at home either, so having it close by during the summer would be another nice opportunity for her to take advantage of. If she stayed here for that long, that is.]

[Rei nodded again as the village came into view]

First, let's get you some real clothes, then we'll find you an apartment.

[That's definitely a good guess. Aang talks on with a smile as he guides her, occasionally swishing the fire a bit by moving his hands, but he makes sure to hold it far out enough to prevent any accidental burns.]

You're welcome. A lot of worlds don't have any abilities like this so I hope it isn't too weird.

And, well there's also water, earth and air. Most people who can bend can only end one. But I'm the Avatar, so that means I get to bend all four!

[Certainly so! Some of his housemates are like that (now).]

Ah! I could ask my seniors! Um, two of them left for a bit and then came back, so they'd definitely know the answer to it.

Oh.

[So it was possible to come here twice even after a person was brought back home. That was both intrigued and frightened her a little.]

If they do not remember anything from their previous stay here in Luceti, then... they probably did not remember anything from it back in their world, either.

[Unless there was a way to go back here willingly, and they consciously chose to be here at the expense of their memories. Everything here was apparently free, after all, and that may tempt a lot of people to go back. Or if they were to form an attachment to the place... it wasn't far-fetched to think that they could.]

I do not know about any other worlds, but we do not have anything like this on Earth. Magic does not exist there.

[Seeing him firebend was weird at first, but now it was something she was quite grateful for because she wasn't feeling nearly as cold anymore. That made her quickly get used to it, faster than she'd have expected she would.

So she was right about the waterbending. She couldn't help but be immediately curious as to what people who were capable of that could do, but then her eyes widened upon hearing that the boy was - and that was, apparently, somebody special among his people.]

...The Avatar? Are you somebody of high standing in your world?

[She said so with a certain disbelief in her voice, considering how young this boy was. He didn't strike her as somebody full of immense intelligence or wisdom that would probably be required to control all four elements - she would imagine somebody like that as an elderly, bearded man instead.]

[Ai noticed that they were finally nearing the end of the forest herself, and parted her lips a little at the sight of the village. So this was where she was going to meet the talking ponies, the Godlike creatures, the spirits and knights.

It was quite an intimidating thought now that they were finally close, and it just hit her like that.

She then turned her head in Rei's direction curiously, realizing something that she could probably get an explanation for in the guide, but she spoke first regardless before checking it for answers.]

Um... can I get either of those without any money?

[It was probably obvious that she didn't have anything on her right now. Even if she did, she doubted any amount of yen would do any good here.]
