1st Dive: Beginnings [Action]

[A quiet and peaceful slumber after a long, tiring day in high school for Ai Nanasaki ended up with her waking up in the middle of a forest, her body on the ground surrounded by leaves. Not that she thought she was waking up at first, but that she was in the middle of an odd dream, rather. A particularly vivid one.

It was a bit cold - certainly colder than her room had been - and her body didn't feel as relaxed as it did on the comfy mattress. And she was lying on something else other than the ground.

As Ai leaned forward, her eyes inspected her surroundings curiously, her head feeling a bit dizzy. It resembled the hill her grandfather owned, but... there was something off about it. She wasn't on the route she usually took, either - there wasn't one to begin with.

Still feeling something on her back, she reached over her shoulder and touched what felt like a wing. Also, she seemed to be wearing a peculiar white sundress and not the pyjamas she had gone to bed with.]

Huh...

[This was so strange. And it felt real. It didn't feel like a dream.

Ai continued turning her head around, and it wasn't until her gaze landed on a book right beside her when she stopped doing so.

The girl reached out and inspected both covers of the peculiar object with curiosity in her eyes.

Standing up with the book in her hands, she opened it up, trying to make sense of what was happening. But what was inside of it just seemed to confuse her even more at that point.]

Where am I...?

[Her voice sounded as confused as it could be. It was a good question. And why did it feel like she had wings on her back?]

(OOC: Ai will be walking around the forest while inspecting the book, trying to either find anyone who could help explain what was going on or a sign of civilization. You can catch her there.)

[The boy's greeting was almost lost on Ai as she inspected the tortoise cautiously, which was unlike anything she had seen before and not nearly as small in size. She barely noticed the sleeping creature below its tree, who the boy called Lax. They didn't look like any animals that she knew of...

Then, she faced Diamond. While the tortoise looked a bit intimidating, he seemed friendly, and rather energetic.

Ai had to clarify what he first said, however.]

N-new? New to what?

[What had just happened to her?]

[Hmmm. Diamond turns his body, so she can see his fluffy light blue wings flapping happily.]

To the Luceti region. These wings are proof of it. It's okay though, because there's a lot of people in the village!

[Luceti? She hadn't heard of such a region in Japan before. That made her doubt that she was actually there more and more.

A village? At least that meant that there were probably more people nearby. Maybe they could help her find her way?

Something about the fact that she had wings on her back now made her doubt that, however.]

How did I end up here?... And these wings... how did I get them?

[The one comforting thing was that this boy seemed to have wings of his own, too. Perhaps she was not alone in what was happening here.]

[Okay, back to facing her. He's definitely got the full low down now, but... He doesn't want to alarm her too much.]

I just woke up here [VERY RUDELY] with wings on my back. They're nice, right? They don't help you fly, and if you pull out a feather it hurts. They're as real as your fingers.

[Dia wiggles his fingers for emphasis, still smiling.]

[So he did have a similar experience as she did upon entering here, but hadn't found his way back to where he came from. It also seemed like he didn't know how either of them got here. Perhaps somebody in that village could give her more answers?

Ai curiously looked at the boy's wings, and then turned her head around to catch a glimpse of hers.

Her feathers were dark blue, and it seemed like they darkened even more the closer they got to the center. At the very least, they were of a nice color.

She faced Diamond again, one of her brows lifted in confusion.]

If we cannot fly with our wings, then... I wonder what their purpose is.

[From the sound of it, she had to be as careful with them regardless, if what he was saying was correct.

Ai shivered a little more from the cold, making her fold her arms in an attempt to warm herself up.]

Where is that village you mentioned?

Mm... Well, if it's bad when you take feathers off of them, maybe they're just there to show how healthy you are. Some people have smoother feathers than I do, but they're older too. Like birds!

[Putting that weird stuff aside, he pats Wig's back and holds out his hand. Lax's woken up too, so he's standing by the Torterra's big tree and watching Ai.]

The village is back the way we came! Come on up, we'll take you there.

[One thing Ai now knew for certain was that she was to be careful with her wings, even if she still couldn't understand why people would need them. Back home, you wouldn't need wings as an indicator of your health, so that made her doubt that that was the reason they had them here.

Her eyes then widened just a bit at Diamond's suggestion, as well as the sight of Lax watching her.

After a few seconds, however, she took the couple of steps needed to near them, accepting Diamond's hand.]

Oh, thank you... Um, what kind of creatures are... Wig and Lax?

[Her gaze landed on the enormous turtle as she said the words. Surely it couldn't have come from the world she knew of, and neither did Lax. They didn't look hostile at all, but still, she'd be more comfortable knowing a little bit more about them.]

I have not seen anything like them before... Are they your pets?

[Good! Wig starts to troop along, swaying a little from side to side, and Diamond shakes his head. Lax steps forward every time the Torterra does until he reaches Ai, yawning. Hi.]

Pet isn't really the right word for it... Wig and Lax are my friends! Wig's a Torterra, and Lax is a Munchlax. They're Pokémon! [oh] Pokémon are animals in my world.

Oh!

[Pokémon?

She quickly recognized that word. It was hard living in Japan and not knowing at least a little about Pokémon. If memory served her right, she watched a little bit of the show as a kid too.

But that only made it this experience even more confusing than before. She was transported to a region called Luceti, given a pair of wings, and now she was in the presence of actual live Pokémon?

How could that be possible unless this Luceti region wasn't part of the world she knew?]

What do you mean, "your world"? I know what a Pokémon is, but... they are not real from where I come from.

[She spoke with hesitation, for she couldn't deny the fact that Wig and Lax already didn't look like normal animals.]

[Lax is shocked! A world without Pokémon?! Well, there was this place, but still. Whatever. The Munchlax sits beside Ai as Diamond speaks slowly, but not hesitantly as she had.]

I would say that I couldn't imagine a world where Pokémon didn't exist, but... This place doesn't have native Pokémon. I can't really say the details of it because it's hard to explain, but... The Luceti region is a different world from where you're from and where I'm from. I've met a lot of people who are outside of this world too. The village we're going through are full of them. These wings, too, are proof of that, I think.

[Ai couldn't help but be fascinated at the thought - the implication - that actual Pokémon did exist in their own separate world, and not in the form of an anime or a video game.

And most of all, that they were taken from there and put in this region with her - and from what it looks like, people from other worlds too. Given that she could see for herself that she had actual wings on her back as a part of her body, she was inclined to believe that.]

That is... a lot to take in.

[She said so earnestly as she sighed. At the very least, she found some comfort from Diamond's friendly nature and willingness to explain things to her, leading to her sharing a little bit about what she last recalled.]

I remember just going to sleep back home in Japan... But instead of waking up there to prepare myself for another day of school, I end up here wearing this dress.

[The girl then looked at the peculiar journal she had in her hand with a confused expression on her face.]

And with this lying next to me, too.

[If what Diamond was saying was true, then she wouldn't stop being perplexed for a long time even after they reach the village. She wondered what kind of people or other creatures she may find there.]

[Ah yes, that!! He was almost forgetting that! He nods.]

Lax, would you grab it from my bag?

[The Munchlax nods and trots dutifully to Diamond's pack, taking out his journal and returning with it.]

I got one too. You can talk to it, and people talk back. It's very nice.

[The best way to describe it, really.]

[Ai observed with a certain fascination as Lax went ahead and followed Diamond's request, completely understanding what he had asked of him. Just like a Pokémon...

The girl then looked at his journal - it was much like her own, which made her believe that everybody who arrived there would have one as well.

She could talk to it and people would talk back, though? Looking at the book she had in her hands, it did look like it was more than a simple journal... But it didn't exactly look like any electronic device she knew of, either.]

You mean, people here in Luceti? We cannot contact anyone from our worlds?

[Diamond shakes his head, frowning a little.]

We can't. I've tried, but it's just to everyone around here... [There were only a handful of familiar names, but that's because he lives with them. The rest were people he's yet to meet..!]

I see...

[Ai frowned herself, though having this journal was still better than nothing, and it could be useful. Looking through it, she noticed that there was an option for video as well, apart from a voice conversation. And it also had the function to filter that to specific people. It was quite odd and unearthly, and she would definitely fiddle around with it more later.

After a few moments, she looked at Diamond rather quizzically, wanting to ask him one of the questions she had thought of before.]

Um... what happens when you bring me to the village? Is there a place I can stay there, or...?

[She had no money, but this being a wholly separate world, she had her doubts as to whether they would've even helped her much anyway.]

There's a lot of places to stay! I live with a bunch of people who're from my place, but it's getting cramped so I can't offer you a room there... But we'll help you find someplace, don't worry.

[... There's something he's forgetting OH RIGHT. He claps his hands together, entirely too cheerful for what amounts to a kidnapping victim.]

And everything here is free, too, so we can get something to eat and we'll find anything you need in the shops when we're looking~ There are, um, big buildings around the village that a lot of people live in like apartments... Even one right by my house. By the way, what's your name?

[Since she hadn't introduced herself yet.]

[Ai was pleasantly surprised, for a change, upon hearing that there was somewhere she could stay, and then even more surprised about learning that everything was free. Not that she minded it, of course, but it was hard to imagine - though if everyone was brought here like she was, nobody would have had any money at all anyway, so in a way, it made sense.

Perhaps settling in the village wouldn't be hard, after all. and getting some clothes for herself from the shops Diamond mentioned didn't sound like a bad idea, and other bare necessities...]

Oh! I apologize, my name is Ai Nanasaki. It is a pleasure to meet you.

[She did a slight bow in the direction of the younger boy. Transporting to a whole different world like she had and learning so much about it already had made her mind race, which made her completely forget to properly introduce herself.]

I guess... I am just overwhelmed by... all of this. Being brought in a place like this so suddenly...

It's fine~ It won't be too hard to settle in, I think, at least it wasn't too hard for me... We'll do the best we can to help you too.

[She's got his word. Diamond thinks about how long they've got until they reach their destination and slips off his jacket, holding it out to Ai.]

It's going to be a bit more before we get there, so please wear this. I'll be okay because my region's always kind of cold.

[After a quiet gasp of surprise at Diamond's gesture, Ai smiled softly at the boy in appreciation.]

Oh, thank you, if you're sure...

[She took the jacket from him and put it on top of her white sundress, immediately feeling much better and warmer than she did before. That elicited a sigh from her as she rested her body a little, no longer shivering as much as it had just a few moments ago.

And then, she glanced at Wig and Lax curiously until her gaze landed on Diamond's.]

Where do you come from, Diamond-san? You said that Pokémon are real in your world, but... what is that world like?

[She knew that there was a world that the show of Pokémon was set in, which was probably the same as the one in the video games... but to think that it was actually real for somebody out there was a difficult thing for her to grasp.]

[What is that world like... He leans back on his hands, watching the tree branches above them. How could he describe it?]

Well, Sinnoh's huge even by itself, but there are other regions out there, too... Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Unova - we have at least one person from each place here now! It's probably as big as your world! There's cities and towns and ruins and trees and mountains, rivers and snowy areas too, plus a big marsh! Sinnoh itself has three big lakes where it's said [and proven cough cough] that three legendary Pokémon sleep in each. The one closest to my hometown, Twinleaf, is Lake Verity, where Mesprit is. Um... A lot of stuff is based around Pokémon and all, since they're very important to every body, but I don't know what your home is like so I can't really draw a lot of comparisons...

[Ai listened intently at the boy's explanation of his world with her eyes looking at him curiously while tightly clinging to his jacket. She got used to the fact that she was sitting on an actual live Pokémon and managed to pay attention to him.

Though the names of the regions (which she deduced were actually continents) eluded her, the nature he was describing to her sounded just like Earth's own. Minus the three big lakes with legendary Pokémon, of course. They probably wouldn't be lakes she'd be able to peacefully swim in because of people constantly trying to find and catch them - if people in this Pokémon world were anything like the ones depicted in the fictional show. A lot of them were trainers, always eager to catch and compete.]

Well, the biggest comparison that stands out between our worlds is that you have Pokémon and we do not. We do have a lot of different animals, of course, but it is not the same.

[She then tilted her head, her gaze looking somewhere in the distance as she explained a little about her home.]

I come from Japan, which is an archipelago on our planet in the Pacific Ocean. There are a lot of other countries can be even larger than mine though, and we have seven big continents that are probably like your regions. We have everything from cities to mountains and deserts, too. Forests like this one, as well. And the rest of our planet is taken up by five big oceans.

[Diamond watches her as she talks, Lax dozing off again beside him, and 'wows' silently. It sounded bigger than his!]

That's a lot for one planet. I wonder what else is on mine... There's a lot of oceans too, but Sinnoh's main point are its mountains. At the top of one is a pillar that a family gets material from for their crest. It's a long journey.

[Hmm.]

There's also a volcano. It's still active, I think. Yours sounds much bigger though! What kind of animals do you have?

[There was a certain amusement in seeing Diamond interested about her world - it was hard imagining Earth actually being alien to somebody.]

Well, all kinds, really. The oceans are filled with marine life - many different kinds of fish, sharks, dolphins, whales... And on land, it varies between continents. There are lions and tigers in Africa and Asia, for example, and a lot of other wild animals. The closest thing we have to Pokémon are the animals we choose as pets. For a lot of people those are mostly cats and dogs, but there are a lot of others too.

[Her expression turned into one of curiosity as she turned a little on the tortoise in the direction of Diamond.]

Do you have animals in your world too, or are they all Pokémon?

[Huh... It sounds pretty odd, a world without Pokémon.]

Well, all we have are Pokémon, so I guess you could say they are what would be your world's animals. Hold on.

[He shifts Lax away a little, going to his bag and taking out his blue Pokédex. He returns shortly after and decides to show her some of the Pokémon in it.]

See? Here, you can look through it if you'd like.

[Considering he's seen basically every Pokémon in the Sinnoh region minus The Creator Arceus himself, it's a hefty amount to look through and he'll let her hold it.]

[Ai's eyes narrowed at the next unfamiliar device that she found herself holding in her hands. This obviously came from his world, though, and not Luceti itself.

This... is a Pokédex, isn't it?

It was a Pokédex - she remembered what it was a few seconds after holding it, having seen it before on the show. A database of Pokémon.

There was a lot of information pertaining each one, but it was mostly their portraits that she looked through curiously. Most were unfamiliar to her, this being the Sinnoh region. But some she could vaguely recall...]

Ah... I like this one.

[It was Gyarados' entry she had just seen.

She turned her head to look at Diamond curiously after a question popped up in her mind while she looked through these.]

How do you have your Pokémon with you here? Were you... brought here with your Pokéballs on you?
